What is Nirvana: Introduction
“Nirvana” or “Nibbana” is one of the main concepts in Asian religions namely Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. According to Buddhism Nirvana is the soteriological goal. To further explanation for ‘what is Nirvana’, We already knew that Buddhism teachings focus on current life which exists now and also our next life. This concept “Nirvana” is based on our next life teachings.
What is Nirvana: Why we need to follow Nirvana
Every human being has to face birth and death of the life cycle. It is known as existence. There is a very famous dialogue in William Shakespeare’s comedy “As you like it”, “All the world’s a stage; And all the men and women merely players:”. Shakespeare brings out carefully life circle of every human being from the poem “The Seven Ages of Man”. Simply you can get an idea of our woeful life through that poem. Or here, think why we live? What the final achieving goal in our life? From our birth to death we are run after something what we never known. So, why we earn? Wish our success or why we learn very hardly? What the final ‘thing’ that we can achieve? unfortunately, all the things become useless after our death. We cannot bring anything which we earn in our life into hell or heaven or our next lifetime. The only thing that we can bring out is Good deeds and bad in our accounts. According to Buddhism good deeds leads to a good life in this life and also in our next lifetime. Bad things lead everything into bad. Anyhow, we have to face existence. Existence brings us woeful life in every lifetime. Are there any things to do stop our existence? Yes, there is. Only stopping the existence, we can clean out sorrow and sadness from our life.
What is Nirvana: History of Nirvana
In to the point, what is Nirvana? Is removing existence from our soul. Next point is how we remove existence from our life? Lord Buddha finds out the best ways to remove existence. He is the first person who removes existence from his life. He attains to the noble Nirvana in the age of eighty. As a prophet, he shows up how to attain noble Nirvana in practically. After the Lord Buddha, there are so many followers of Lord Buddha have attained into the Noble Nirvana. At the same period other Religions as Hinduism, Jainism follow Nirvana. Fortunately, Buddhism gets the lead to achieving Nirvana. Achieving Nirvana through Buddhism is very easy for the mass and brings good results to the followers as a consequence of that Buddhism became very famous in southern Asia at the beginning, later all around the world. The hidden secret of this popularity is, Buddhism focuses on the middle way to achieving Nirvana. Moreover, about this middle path is, some religions used very hard methods of achieving Nirvana like, Jainism. They think, human doing bad and harm things for other living beings in every hand. So, they aren’t wearing clothes or shoe wears whenever they go. They practised sorrowful and woeful lifestyle. Hinduism follow some theisms towards achieving Nirvana. they also followed the same path as Jainism’s do. That path of achieving Nirvana lead life into danger. Every person in society can achieve Nirvana successfully with Buddhism. So Buddhism gets more popular than others.
What is Nirvana: Four Stages of Enlightenment
To achieving enlightenment or Nirvana there are three stages to achieve. The final stage is Nirvana. From beginning Sovan, Sakurdhagami, Anagami and Arhat or Nirvana. Attain to noble Nirvana we must achieve those stages step by step. Period of achieving Nirvana is based on according to our karma. Lord Buddha’s closest monk, monk Anandha spend his full lifetime to achieving Nirvana. He has achieved Nirvana in his death bed. As ordinary people, we have to spend much time on that. It is unable to predict getting into Nirvana in this life. So, we have to do one thing, we must do good things; pin to get Nirvana in another life. From that ‘pin’; good deeds drive us into our target. So, as Lord Buddha preached, do not unless to do good deeds. Start from this moment to enlighten your life.
What is Nirvana: How to achieve Nirvana
According to the Buddhism teachings, we must control our mind, body and word. Why do we need to control our mind, body and words? Because these three perspectives lead our life into sadness or into hell. In Buddhism very first teaching is following five perspectives (Mentioned about five perspectives in the previous article). These five perspectives help us to salvage from hell.ie., five perspectives created to get rid of the sadness and hell which arouse less control of our mind, body and word. Another basic method is regular meditation (see my articles on meditation and other meditation methods). Meditation gives us mind relaxation and helps to focus our goals and achieve success primarily. In secondary it helps to achieve noble Nirvana.
